Daniel Banon Exhibition at the Côte du Midi-Somail Tourist Office (11)

From May 3 to June 29, discover Daniel Banon’s photographs of the canal du Midi at his “A l’ombre du canal du Midi” [In the Shadow of the canal du Midi] exhibition.

Originally from southeast France, Daniel Banon has spent many hours wandering around the villages of Provence since a very young age. He quickly developed a passion for photography, starting with his smartphone, then, on returning from a trip to the United States, he decided to take the plunge and buy a hybrid camera, which he has been using ever since. Since settling in Toulouse in 2008, he has taken to walking along its beautiful streets in search of details he can capture in an image. He can regularly be seen in the pink city with his camera in hand. So it is no surprise that he has fallen under the spell of the canal du Midi, whose changing colors he loves to photograph as one season slides into the next.

Solidarity event at the Mas des Canelles, in support of the canal du Midi replanting project

Save the date: July 11 at the Mas des Canelles in Castanet-Tolosan (31), on the banks of the canal du Midi, for the open-air screening of the film Judy in its original version (English) with French subtitles.

The Mas des Canelles is an exceptional site built at the beginning of the 19th century. It is a welcoming location, ideal for organizing events and gatherings of up to 400 people all year round.
Given their attachment to the canal du Midi, which flows alongside the Mas des Canelles, the directors of the MIHARU group, who manage the site, are once again supporting the project to replant the river. For the third year in a row, the Voies navigables de France patronage program is organizing a solidarity evening in partnership with Cinéfol 31 and Actu.fr dedicated to the 7th art, with the screening of the film Judy in its original version with French subtitles on the grounds of the estate.

The Mas des Canelles is offering the option of just attending the film screening or a package combining dinner and film. On the menu: a first-rate meal prepared with local produce, a bucolic setting on the banks of the canal du Midi and an extraordinary biopic on the life of Judy Garland. An explosion of flavors and delight guaranteed!

All proceeds from the screening (including the dinner and film package) will be donated to the canal du Midi tree replanting project.

Synopsis & event poster

A drama about the life of Judy Garland by Rupert Goold, Tom Edge and Peter Quilter, starring Renée Zellweger (winner of numerous awards including a Golden Globe and an Oscar for best actress), Jessie Buckley, and Finn Wittrock, among others.

Winter 1968. Showbiz legend Judy Garland arrives in London to perform in a sell-out run at The Talk of the Town. Thirty years have already passed since she became a worldwide star thanks to The Wizard of Oz. Judy, who began performing at the age of two, has been singing for a living for over four decades by now. She is exhausted. We see her as she prepares for the show, fights with her agent, charms the musicians and reminisces with friends; her vivacity and generosity charm all who surround her. Her life shaped by a childhood sacrificed to Hollywood, she longs to return home and spend time with her children. Will she even have the strength to keep going?

Open-air film screening on the grounds of Château de Sériège (34)

Save the date: August 11, at Château de Sériège, an evening dedicated to the 7th art for the open-air screening of the English musical film “Yesterday”, with Himesh Patel, Lily James and Ed Sheeran.

For this first edition on August 11, organized in partnership with Voies navigables de France and Actu.fr, Cécile and Barthélémy d’Andoque de Sériège will be opening the grounds of their chateau in Cruzy (34) up to the public for a solidarity open-air screening.

Château de Sériège is anchored in history, an extravagance of the Languedoc architectural heritage. It is nestled between the Aude and the Hérault, on the banks of the canal du Midi, in the commune of Cruzy, in the heart of a vast vineyard. It was built in 1884 by Alexandre d’Andoque. The elegant and inimitable lines of Château de Sériège stand out against the sky. An architectural gem, built in the 19th century, restored in recent years by the d’Andoque family. This family-owned wine estate has finally chosen to open its doors to the public to reveal its wines, host your most special personal and professional events, and hold concerts and cultural events.

All ticket proceeds will be donated to the canal du Midi replanting project.
